Prune back the Threat in All New Lorcana

The Chaos Cards team recently attended the official Disney Lorcana Attack of the Vine press conference, and WOW, we can see there are some great things in store for the Lorcana community.

Attack of the Vine marks a shift away from the light-hearted tone of previous releases, propelling the game into far spookier territory. It is the perfect place for the highly anticipated debut of Pixar’s iconic monster duo, Mike and Sulley! So, expect some hilarious shenanigans from the Monsters Inc. pair as they battle the hardy vine attacking Lorcana.

It was hard not to get caught up in the team's excitement for this upcoming release. It was clear that one of the biggest goals for this set is to make players feel immersed in the middle of a movie, and the cards we have seen definitely have a distinctive cinematic vibe that shines through in the artwork.

Read on to find out what else we discovered for the big release of Attack of the Vine.

Attack of the Vine marks the thrilling culmination of a storyline that has been brewing for a while. We first saw the mysterious vine antagonising Elsa during the events of Winterspell, but eagle-eyed players will be able to trace its roots back to seeds planted during the Whispers in the Well release and Hen Wens premonition. Can you tell we really love the storytelling that accompanies a Lorcana release?

Although we may have seen glimpses of the vine before, Attack of the Vine is the first chance we have to witness the epic and sprawling plant in all its glory.

The vine possesses the unique power of being able to create Vinelings (a new addition to Lorcana). These creatures are antagonists and act as mimics of darker characters from the realm; rather than true glimmers.

As the story unfolds, we begin to learn that the vine is actively sucking the flood ink directly from Lorcana, and this is where the story really begins…

Following on from the exciting introduction of Toy Story (just in time for Toy Story 5!) The Incredibles and Brave, Pixar fans have even more to look forward to in Attack of the Vine.

Fend off the ever-growing vine with the beloved characters from Monsters Inc, Up, and Turning Red.

Let’s have a quick look at some of the things we learnt during the Attack of the Vine press conference:

• Turning Red: These cards will heavily utilise Mei Lee and Red Panda's musical interests.
• Ruby Exclusive: The iconic Red Panda will only feature as Ruby cards.
• Temp Shift: A brand-new mechanic called "Temp Shift" is debuting. We can’t say too much just yet, but it looks like a great new addition to play.
• Up: Carl Fredricksen is a perfect fit for a set that focuses heavily on exploration mechanics because, after all, adventure is out there!
• Floodborn Shift: Speaking of mechanics, the Floodborn Shift mechanic is making its return, but it looks like it will function differently than when it first appeared in Rise of the Floodborn.

When we first saw the Lore Nouveau cards in Wilds Unknown, we thought it would be nearly impossible to top the gorgeous designs. Well, we were wrong, as Attack of the Vine will feature an even GREATER variety of stunning artwork to obsess over.

We had a sneak peek at some of the Promo cards with unique frames that make them feel really special. One thing we were super excited about was the introduction of the all-new Cinemayhem cards.

These cards have the look and feel of old school movie posters, and somehow manage to pack a lot of detailed imagery into one card! Great for fans of easter eggs. We can foresee that these cards will definitely be at the top of many players' and collectors' wishlists.

At Chaos Cards, we really love the Lorcana community, and we are excited to see that Attack of the Vine is really leaning into that teamwork theme.

Expect to see some famous duos working together to defeat the vine with the first time team-up of Belle and the Beast, as well as the adorable pair Lilo and Stitch.

With a new era on the horizon (more on that later), some of the earlier Lorcana releases will be rotated out of play. This means that Attack of the Vine is the perfect time for people curious about the game to grab a deck and get playing.

The following sets will be rotated out of the standard format:

• Shimmering Skies
• Azurite Sea
• Archazia's Island
• The Reign of Jafar

We didn’t just have exciting news about Attack of the Vine in the press conference; we had a very cheeky look at the upcoming sets. Here's what we learnt:

• October 2026: Get ready for Hyperia City! This set explores what a bustling city would look like in the realms of Lorcana and will feature beloved characters from Disney’s Coco.
• Q1 2027: The villainous Hades makes his triumphant return to Lorcana, and it looks to be a rather rocky affair.
• Q2 2027: Expect some chaos as Leroy teams up with Stitch!
