The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine (2020)

In The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine, players must complete 50 separate and eventful missions as they travel across the Solar System in search of a mysterious ninth planet. Each scenario starts off as a training mission which is a great way of learning how to play the game. The Quest for Planet Nine is a great gateway game for players new to the world of trick taking games. The game becomes more difficult with each mission, and players must remember to play the right tricks at the right time in order to get to the next stage; and all of this with limited communication. A mission is only considered completed once every player has successfully completed all the tasks; this is what makes it such a great co-operative game.

Although the game is designed for between 3 and 5 crew members, there is a 2 player variant included for those that prefer smaller games. The Crew: Mission Deep Sea, really expands on the foundations built in The Quest for Planet Nine. While similar in core gameplay, Mission Deep Sea has a wider variety of mission possibilities, offering fresh challenges and intricate puzzles. It is important to note, this isn't an expansion – it's a stand-alone sequel! As with its predecessor, the game requires a lot of strategic thinking. Mission Deep Sea builds on the lessons learnt in The Quest for Planet Nine, and has a more dynamic mission system with varying difficulty levels.

Mission Deep Sea focuses on the search for a lost continent known as Mu. Players must win tricks and negotiate the order in which they are won in the murky depths in order to find the hidden land of Mu. Sometimes the mission might not go as well as expected, but don’t panic! Things can be salvaged with a little bit of luck and near flawless execution.

Like The Quest for Planet 9, Mission Deep Sea is designed for between 3 and 5 players, but with a 2 player variant. Mission Deep Sea really excels with its new dynamic mission card system, which creates fresh and unpredictable challenges with each play through. It's the ultimate test of your crew's adaptability and communication whilst working together.
