We are very excited about the fact that the beloved and award-winning card game Forest Shuffle is getting a stunning new, stand-alone addition: Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor! Stepping away from the forests of Forest Shuffle and its expansions: Exploration and Woodland Edge, this new chapter invites players to compete in building the most valuable ecological environment within the distinctive habitat of Dartmoor.

Named after the beautiful National Park in southwestern England, famous for its wild moorlands, craggy landscape and unique biodiversity, Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor maintains the core mechanism fans love while introducing exciting and fun new layers of strategy. So, prepare to cultivate an ecologically balanced landscape of flora and fauna and have fun with your friends as you play.

What's New

In Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor, the core goal of the game remains the same: gather the most valuable Trees, Shrubs, and now Terrain cards to attract species and thus create a thriving ecosystem. Each turn, players must either draw two cards or play a card by discarding others to pay its cost. However, Forest Shuffle: Dartmoor is packed with fresh features that will challenge veteran players and delight newcomers:

• New Card Type: Terrain Cards: This is the biggest addition! Terrain cards (representing elements like bogs and moorland) are played horizontally and serve as a specific livelihood or feeding ground for various species.
• Unique Placement Rules: Due to the nature of the terrain, species can only be placed above and below the Terrain cards. For example, some animals, like deer, will actively avoid bogs or peat areas, requiring careful planning of your moors.
• Asymmetrical Starting Conditions (Caves): A set of Cave cards are now drafted at the beginning of the game. These provide each player with a unique starting ability or bonus condition, leading to more diverse and strategic openings.
• Refined Scoring: The number of required Tree symbols has been slightly reduced from eight to six, making it easier to trigger certain valuable bonuses and score points effectively.
• Dual-Use Cards: Like its predecessor, each of the 180 cards has a unique backside that can be played face down to create a bog (a specific type of terrain) if the action allows it.
