At Chaos Cards, we're deeply committed to supporting the mental health of our staff and the wonderful community that joins us at our Folkestone Tabletop Store. With our modern lives feeling notoriously hectic and with the darker nights drawing in, we believe that looking after your mental health and wellbeing is more important than ever. Many of us are actively searching for meaningful ways to de-stress and take a break from outside pressures, whether that involves a screen detox, spending time with family, or expanding your social circle.

Our store is proud to offer a hub for this exact kind of positive engagement, hosting many gaming-related events throughout the week that our community utilises to support their wellbeing. We recently posted about the impact the board gaming hobby can have on your mental health and wellbeing, and it is an area we are excited to explore further.

Join the Legends of Lore & Trivia Night!

As a company committed to local wellbeing, we wanted to shine a spotlight on some of the crucial work being done in our area. You've probably heard of Mind, the national Mental Health Charity, but did you know about South Kent Mind? They are a local charity supporting those who live in the South Kent Coastal area, with a vision to providing person-centred and empowering advice and support.

Some of the Chaos Cards team recently completed a ‘Couch to 5K’ program run with local charity South Kent Mind and Buxton Movers. The 12-week program aimed to improve mental wellbeing through physical activity in a supportive group, with goals ranging from reducing stress and improving mood to running for the first time and meeting new people. It was so much fun and a lovely chance to hang out with each other and not just talk about work!

Did you know that South Kent Mind also support the local community with services such as 'wellbeing drop-ins,' art workshops, gentle exercise groups, and even gardening, and cooking sessions. Their aim is to build a community where mental health is understood, valued, and supported throughout the year, and we think that is a great set of values to have.

As our bricks and mortar shop is in Folkestone we thought it would be a fun idea to get together for an exciting and geeky event, and wow, have they got an exciting event planned for us all.
 

Calling all fans of Sci-fi, Fantasy, Anime, and all things ‘Geek Culture’... this is the quiz for you!

The South Kent Mind Legends of Lore & Trivia Night is set to be a magical evening of quiz questions, friendly competition, and community spirit, read on for more details about the upcoming event:

Date: Saturday 1st November 2025

What: A fun trivia night focusing on fan culture.

Teams: Bring a team of up to six, or come along on your own! They'll make sure you're matched with others so you can meet new people, make friends, and enjoy the night together.

There will be rounds on all your favourite franchises such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Marvel, A Song of Ice and Fire, and much, much more! 

Fancy dress is highly encouraged - any theme, any genre, any character! There’ll even be a prize for the best costume. 

Impact: Every ticket and donation will directly support South Kent Mind’s vital mental health services.
