Cat Themed Games are just a Whisker Away at Chaos Cards

Are you on the look out for a purr-fect game for your next game night? Our team has rounded up a selection of our most popular games featuring adorable cats and strategic fun. For centuries cats have captivated us; from Ancient Egyptian goddesses to medieval witches’ companions and internet sensations. Even the Vikings were big cat fans- did you know that the Norse goddess Freja had two giant cats Bygul and Trjegul to pull her chariot? (Check out Pax Viking Junior if you want to find out more about how much the Vikings loved cats.) It only seems fitting then that we dedicate a blog post to these beloved pets.

From clever card games to fun board game adventures, there is sure to be a feline friendly game for everyone! Read on to find out more.

Set Sail for the Isle of Cats

IsleofCats

In the Isle of Cats players must rescue as many cats as possible before the evil Lord Vesh arrives. A unique tile represents each cat, and you must fit as many tiles on your boat as possible whilst keeping families together. On the mission you will encounter treasures and ancient lessons, as well as befriending Oshax! The currency in the game is fish, and you will need plenty of these to rescue the cute kittens. The winner is the player who has the most points after five fun filled rounds. Isle of Cats is perfect for between 1 and 4 players and can last between 60-90 minutes.

We think there's a lot of fun to be had with Isle of Cats, it looks great, its quick to learn and contains enough depth and variation that it'll become a regular on tables in no time. The inclusion of a more family friendly variation in the box is a lovely touch too, opening it up as a great gateway game as well. There's even a Duel version of the game available as well.

Stitch your way to Victory with Calico

Calico[1]

Calico is a tile laying game, where players must compete to sew the cosiest quilt. The quilts have a particular pattern that should be followed, but players must make the quilts as aesthetically pleasing as possible in order to attract the cuddliest cats! Points are scored for buttons, cats and how best you completed the unique quilt pattern.

Calico seems to be a constant favourite amongst boardgamers and we can see why! Aimed at players 14+ the game is great for families with older teens. Calico can last between 30 and 40 minutes and is therefore perfect for catch ups with friends and games nights. The team really like the solo mode of this game, as well as being able to play with up to 4 other people.

Whisker me away to Nekojima

Nekojima[1]

Based on the popular islands in Japan where the feline critters outnumber their human counterparts; Nekojima, or the ‘Island of cats’ is a purrrfect family fun game.  The game is a fun and original take on tower building games, where precision is key. Players take it in turns to build up an electrical network on a small island, and the aim of the game, is to build as high as you can without toppling the entire network! Sounds fun right? Just bear in mind that there is the small issue of the cats who want to hang out within the tangle of wires. That is where the game gets fun!

The Chaos Cards team really loved Nekojima. It was a fun game from start to finish. We loved how the basics of the game were simple to grasp and that you can play different versions, meaning that no two games are the same. We laughed a lot whilst playing which is always a good sign! It is definitely a great game to play with the family and also with friends.

Get Ready to Boop the whole year long

Boop[1]

If it is a cute 2 player cat game you are after, then look no further then Boop and its amazing variants. Boop requires players to herd their kittens into rows of three, which then turns them into cats. Watch out though, because any ‘Boop’ that occurs can knock your opponents kittens or cats away! Boop is a quick and easy to play boardgame, that requires strategic thinking and careful planning. Although the game play may seem fairly casual, Boop is a great and quick game to keep even the most seasoned boardgamer entertained. With a cute game board which resembles a comfy quilted bed, it is one of those games that is as fun as it looks! The artwork is adorable and will definitely appeal to cat lovers and gamers alike! This is one of those rare games that players of all ages will be able to learn and play straight out of the box.

We love that you can switch up the seasons with related Boop releases. Boop the Halls is a Christmas version of Boop where cheeky kittens can either be naughty and ‘boop’ decorations from a beautifully decorated tree, or nice and line their cats in a row. If spooky goings-on are more your thing, then there is the aptly name BOOoop. BOOoop is very similar to the original version of the game, except there is the addition of GHOST CATS. These spooky kittens can float between spaces and scare the other kittens a whole space away. With Boop you can have a cat related game for all seasons!

A Slice of Competitive Fun with Fuzzballs Pizza Thief

Players must calculate the perfect amount of slices for a pizza party whilst sabotaging their friends. Will you be the ultimate Pizza Prophet of will you be left with the crust? A nice party game which is perfect for between 3 – 6 players, and perfect for those aged 8 and up. Pizza Thief puts the adorable kawaii Fuzzballs centre stage, and the artwork is adorable.
