Customize your starship, explore, trade, mine, fight and become a Legend! A 3-5 player sandbox style tabletop miniatures adventure!
Xia is a 3-5 player, sandbox-style, competitive space adventure. Each player starts as a lowly (but hopeful) captain of a small starship.
Players fly their ships about the system completing a variety of missions, exploring new sectors, and battling other ships. Captains vie with each other for Titles, riches, and, most importantly, Fame.
The most adaptative, risk-taking, and creative players will excel. One captain will rise above the others, surpassing mortality by becoming Legend!
Xia features:
A great way to kill a few hours. Highly recommended, especially with the Embers expansion.
Das Spiel kam wohlbehalten an. Nach dem Lockdown wird es ausgepackt und auf den Tisch gebracht.
Great open world space exploration/trading/bounty hunting board game. As this is a general review site, I should point out that this is a reasonably complex game aimed at enthusiasts (rather than families), so only buy if this is what you are after.
Great game. Few issues, time and space. Played (as of this review) 8 games. Played all with 5 players, and apart from first (tutorial play-through) played all games with NPCs. -1 tutorial took 2 hours to play to 5 inculdes learning rules, as often we needed to check things like can you attack on planets, how to ram etc. .-4 short (5 points) took about 1 hour average. (shortest was about 35 minutes with 2 lucky rolls and 2 winning points found in tokens right at start. Longest short game was 1hr minutes, poor luck all round. -2 Long games (played to 10) which took average of 2 1/2 hours, and 1 (longest game and highest win amount) played to 15 and it took 4 hours. Over all every one that played had good things to say, and not many bad (a few got annoyed that one player got "lucky" was only issue, the ones that complained or made issue had about one turn when game ended on winning players second turn). Apart from this small shock and grumble. Every one said they enjoyed it. The players are from a wide range of player types too, ranging from RPG, action/strat, PnP, to people that played Monopoly and Operation as kid but little in adult life. All had a good time, all want to/will play again. It is easy to find what you want to do and what you like doing in the game, and there are so many ways to win doing what you want, that it never feels your trapped in one mold, or play style. Easy to pick up, and play, but does need a bit of room. Starts small but can get very big. Often found our 3x6 table is pretty much full once the full map is revealed and everyone is spread out. Can be made smaller if players keep there player mats off the table and tokens and cards are stored off the map board, then it takes a much smaller space. Only thing bad about it. Space, and time. A short game can take much longer then expect, and a game can also just as easily end before you had even two turns. Everything else is great.
