Archipelago traces the majestic era of archipelago discovery across the globe from 1492 to 1797.
Each player takes on the role of an explorer and his team, commissioned by a European nation to discover, colonise and exploit the archipelagos. These missions are supposed to be carried out in a diplomatic manner, responding to the needs of the local population as well as the regular demands of the continent. The archipelago and its natives must therefore be respected, otherwise the natives will revolt and end up in a war of independence. The limits between expansionism and humanism, economy and respect for local values, transmission of knowledge and excessive industrialisation, are not always easy to find. The balance of the archipelago will depend on the will of everyone to make these islands happy and productive colonies, or on the contrary, to exploit the resources and the natives excessively and end up in chaos and revolt.
To complicate matters, among you there may be an independence fighter or a pacifist. Both will try to tip the balance towards revolt or peace respectively.
