A Look Back at the Chaos Cards Pokemon Day Celebrations

Can you believe this year marks the 30th anniversary of the ever popular Trading Card Game Pokémon? It feels like only yesterday we were trading cards in the playground, but here we are, three decades later and passing that love on to a whole new generation of Trainers.

The Pokémon community is very close to our hearts at Chaos Cards. We don’t just stock Pokémon, we run events and tournaments at our Tabletop Gaming Store in Folkestone; there’s the Pokémon Breakfast club and the popular Pokémon Arts and Crafts holiday club with local artist Becky Vincer and her assistant. It is definitely a great time to be a fan of all things Pokémon, so naturally, the Chaos Cards team went all in for our Pokémon Day celebrations.

We had a lot of fun at our Pokémon Day celebrations last year, read on to find out what the Chaos Cards team got up to for the big 3-0 this year!

Did you know that Pokémon Red and Green first launched on the Game Boy in Japan on the 27th February 1996? The franchise has grown and evolved since then, with not just the games, but the TV shows, the movies and of course the Trading Card Game. The Pokémon Company even released cute anniversary logos for the special occasion!

What could be a better way to celebrate then with a fun-packed day filled with Pokémon related activities. The goal was to create a space for young fans to connect and have fun, whilst learning about Pokémon. From the casual play upstairs on the Mezzanine to the spin-the-wheel prizes, trail and photo ops, there wasn’t a dull moment to be had in the shop. We loved seeing people enjoy learning how to play the game and meeting new people, as well as winning prizes and taking part in the trail. The staff had as much fun working as the people attending!

• Creative Crafts: Our resident artist, Becky Vincer, was on hand to help our Pokémon fans design their very own Pokémon-themed cake boxes. (Keep an eye out for our amazing and inclusive Pokémon craft workshops at Chaos Cards in the school holidays!)
• Exclusive Goodies: Attendees walked away with Pokémon Promo cards, packed goody bags and exclusive prizes!
• We had the lovely Amy from Mooie Fee Photography on hand to capture the smiling faces of all our young Pokémon trainers throughout the celebrations, I'm sure you can see how much fun we had from the wonderful photos!
