Introducing Spellbinding Worlds in all new Everdell Duo
Written by K. Lambert - Mar 05 2025

“Wisely govern your Woodland City to ensure that your critter citizens are joyful, buildings are properly constructed and plenty of events are held to celebrate your triumphs.”
Are you looking for the perfect engaging game to play on a cosy night in? Everdell Duo and its spellbinding worlds could be the game for you. The game is specifically designed for 1 – 2 players (as you may have guessed from the title) and offers both competitive or co-operative gameplay.
Everdell Duo is a new addition to the world of Everdell and its expansions. The original Everdell is an enchanting and immersive worldbuilding game involving resource gathering and worker placement within the fantastical realm of Everdell. Oh, and did we mention this spellbinding world is inhabited by woodland creatures? Well, if that has intrigued you, read on to find out more about this enchanting game.
Everdell Duo is the effortlessly adorable game everyone should play.
If it’s a fun and story driven game you are after then pull up a chair. Everdell Duo takes place over four seasons and is spread out over 15 detailed chapters. Expect a variety of challenges, events and strategies as you progress throughout the woodland game. The guys here at Chaos Cards found the average duo game to last around 30 minutes which makes it a great little game to pass the time on a rainy afternoon.
Everdell Duo even has a unique turn taking structure, involving some cute little sun and moon tokens. This is a new addition to the Duo format of the game, and really helps to make it stand out from the base game.
Competitive or Co-operative
Something that really stands out about Everdell Duo is the different modes of play. There is the option of competitive mode, co-operative mode (also known as challenge mode,) and an all new campaign mode. The fun thing about challenge mode is that players must work together to build the city between them, rather then competing against each other. It’s a really nice addition as we quite like the chance to work together sometimes!
The Chaos Cards team really enjoyed the addition of these modes of play as it really enhances the replayability of Everdell Duo. Who doesn’t love a game that is fresh and exciting every time you play?

The artwork is really delightful and makes you feel fully immersed within the game. At the end of the day, who doesn’t enjoy looking at cute critters? We could honestly look at the cards all day. The stunning imagery will feel recognisable to players already familiar with the world of Everdell, making Everdell Duo really feel like part of the family.
If you're curious, Everdell Duos good looking components include;
80 unique critter and construction cards and 2 player aid cards,
1 double sided gameboard with beautiful artwork,
Campaign Score Sheet,
Goal marker and occupied tokens,
Point tokens, 1 sun, 1 moon token and 2 pocket watch tokens,

Should you add Everdell Duo to your collection?
Everdell Duo is a great addition to the Everdell universe. It really is a splendid little two player game that works perfectly as a standalone game within the other expansions. The fact that it can be played again and again is obviously a great plus. (Don’t forget you can get Everdell Duo as well as the base game and expansions at Chaos Cards.)
We think the game is perfect for those aged 10 and above and is just right for a cosy games night. Overall the game is a perfect and accessible introduction to the world of Everdell.
