Summer of Fun with Chaos Cards Pokemon Workshops
Written by K. Lambert - Sep 26 2025

Every school holiday we host workshops at Chaos Cards Tabletop Gaming Centre where we welcome young Pokémon Masters and help them create a long-lasting, handmade piece of artwork they can proudly show off.
This summer our workshop artist Becky ran 8 fun-filled workshops and was joined by Chaos team member (and blog writer) Katie to help with the madness - since some sessions can get rather messy! As ever, the workshops were based on everyone's favourite Trading Card Game; Pokémon.
The workshops were held at our Bricks and Mortar store in Folkestone, and each session had 20 spaces. All of the workshops quickly sold out, meaning by the end of the summer we had helped make 160 amazing crafty creations.
These workshops are all about giving adults and kids the chance to learn new skills in a supportive environment, as well as the opportunity to meet other like minded Pokémon fans. It was great to see families and friends working together to create and keep a one of a kind piece of art, as well as making fun filled memories with their children over the summer.
The team try to make the workshops as fun and inclusive as possible. This is really important to the Chaos Cards team as we want the workshops to be accessible to everyone. (If you've attended and have any suggestions on how we can improve please do let us know!)
Workshop 1: Pokémon T Shirts

Pokémon T shirts were back for 2025 and this time they featured Espeon, Gengar or Mewtwo. We built up our design over two layers using vinyl. We started by transferring our chosen templates onto vinyl, we then arranged our first layer on our t shirt and Becky used her heat press (which looks like a toastie maker!) to fix that design on. Then our Pokémon trainers could add some decoration for the second layer and maybe some added detail to their Pokémon. We saw some really wonderful designs being created. All the participants took home an official Pokémon sticker after the workshop too!
Workshop 2: Pokémon Pin Badge Pennants

On our second week we saw lots of participants wearing the fantastic t shirts made in week one! It was so lovely to see! At this workshop we were decorating pennants to hang pin badges on, and we even had time to make not one, but two button badges to kick start the collection!
We had the children thinking about what habitat our Pokémon badges might prefer most as they designed their flag. We thought about whether our Pokémon would prefer a hot or cold climate and what other features we might have in our habitats; including trees, flowers, water, ice or fire. We saw a lot of wonderful volcanoes and waterfalls being created! At the end of the workshop, our crafters received a lovely and shiny official Pikachu pin badge to go on their pennants!
Workshop 3: Pokémon No Sew Bulbasaur

This workshop was very cute and even included some disco glue guns which was very entertaining! The No Sew Bulbasaur was very similar in style to the No Sew Scorbunny we made at Easter last year. We all started with 2 socks, some pens and some multicoloured scraps of felt. It was great to see all the customisation going on and there were some very interesting looking Bulbasaur, Ivysaur and Venasaurs created! There was a mini Pokémon binder for all crafters at the end of this session, which is perfect for storing all those Pokémon cards.
Workshop 4: Pokémon Printed Pencil Cases

The final workshop was perfect for those heading back to school. Our Pokémon trainers had a variety of Pokémon symbols to choose and create their own stamps for printing. We either cut out our designs or carved into the foam using a pencil (remembering that pictures needed to be reversed when stamping!) We then attached the foam designs onto some circles of cardboard to make the stamps more rigid. One really fun aspect of this workshop was seeing everyone sharing their stamps with each other so there was a really good mix of symbols on the pencil cases! Some crafters did double sided pencil cases whilst others concentrated really hard on making a fun Pokémon design on just the one side. At the end of the workshop, Pokémon crafters could collect a very cute Pikachu and Glaceon keyring to pop on their pencil case or bags.
