Last week we hosted our first Gathering for Good at Chaos Cards Tabletop Gaming Centre and we had the best time!

What is Gathering for Good?

Gathering for Good unites the Magic: The Gathering community to play games while raising vital funds for War Child. War Child is a charity that works tirelessly to provide a safe future for children who have been affected by war, ensuring their rights are respected and their voices are heard. As they put it:

“At War Child, we understand children’s needs, respect and stand up for their rights, and put them at the centre of everything we do. We speak out to ensure international humanitarian law is upheld, boldly campaign on the root causes of conflict and help to amplify children’s voices, so that they can advocate for change on the issues that matter to them"

A Legendary Crossover: Final Fantasy Meets Magic

This year, Gathering for Good was celebrating the epic crossover of Final Fantasy and Magic: The Gathering with an auction of prizes featuring actors and voice artists from Final Fantasy. The exclusive, signed, one-of-a-kind items and experiences were available in the official Gathering for Good auction, with the proceeds going directly to War Child. The highlight of the auction was a collection of limited-edition Magic cards signed by iconic Final Fantasy actors including:

• Ben Starr (Clive, Final Fantasy XVI)
• Briana White (Aerith, Final Fantasy VII Remake)
• Matt Mercer (Vincent, Final Fantasy VII Remake)
• Peter Bramhill (Thancred, Final Fantasy XIV)

Gathering for Good: Local Event in Folkestone

For those that wanted to get involved in person, Chaos Cards hosted two special Magic: The Gathering events on the 13th August 2025, to help raise money for War Child. An amazing 20 players attended and they made sure to dig deep in order to make the event a great success.

The lovely staff in store ran two tournaments with an AMAZING raffle with over £100 worth of Final Fantasy goodies donated by Chaos Cards. The team ran two events:

• A Commander Tournament which included entry to the Casual Commander Event. Each player recieved a booster pack from a recent standard set, and we even had Final Fantasy Play packs as well to give to the winners!

• A Standard Tournament which included entry to our Standard Showdown Event, with each player received at least two booster packs for taking part, and higher placing players receiving even more!

ALL proceeds from both events went straight to War Child, with our lovely players raising an amazing £300 for the charity, with Chaos Cards donating a further £200 - making our donation total up to £500! We are so proud of our community for working together with us to help raise money to protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children living in conflict.
