Lorcana Wilds Unknown: The Chaos Cards Highlights

Big changes are heading to Lorcana. With the Wilds Unknown release right around the corner on May 15th, the Chaos Cards team has been busy testing out the latest products. We’ve unboxed everything from the new Pre-Release Kit to the latest booster packs. Ready to see what we pulled? Let's take a look in this post!

Our favourite card combination we pulled from the booster box was undoubtedly Merida – Formidable Archer and Three Arrows.

The combo strategy is simple yet effective: When you play Merida, you can return the Three Arrows card from your discard pile to your hand. You then cast Three Arrows, a 3-cost action that deals 2 damage to one character and 1 damage to another, all this while Merida hits the opposing character for 2 damage. It is a pretty fantastic way to clear the board!

Wilds Unknown contains 12 "Traveller" Glimmer cards that feature characters like Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Cruella, and Cinderella. These cards can activate special abilities when they quest, as long as another character was played that turn.

We were pretty thrilled to pull Pocahontas – Steadfast Traveller. The artwork is truly stunning, capturing her summoning magic in an icy landscape. We can’t wait to play her, as her ability allows us to return a location card from the discard pile to our hand.

• Pocahontas – Steadfast Traveller (220/204): Cost 4 | 4 Strength | 5 Willpower | 1 Lore

We were happy to pull Kida - Crystal Scion from one of our booster packs. This Legendary card costs 8 ink to play, but the payoff is pretty sweet. You can utilise her "Flood of Power" ability to put up to 5 cards from your discard pile into your inkwell (face down and exerted), or reveal the top 2 cards of your deck, (putting one into your hand and the other on the bottom of your deck.)

The artwork by Kenneth Anderson captures Kida’s superb abilities and the essence of her character perfectly.

• Kida - Crystal Scion (160/204): Cost 8 | 7 Strength | 7 Willpower | 2 Lore

You may have already seen our post regarding the Wilds Unknown Pre-Release Kit! If you have, you will know how excited we were about the Queen of Hearts – Impatient Traveller promo card.

The promo card features memorable artwork by Magenta Muraca, this Dreamborn Queen features the promo "Wilds Unknown" gold stamp and an intricate, golden border.

• Queen of Hearts – Impatient Traveller (46/P3): Cost 4 | 4 Strength | 2 Willpower | 2 Lore

Finally, our absolute favourite pull: the Enchanted Frozone – Storyborn. His calm confidence explains his coolness, and his "Just Chill" ability allows you to exert a chosen opposing character if you have another Super character in play.

This beautiful, shiny, full-art card features artwork by Juan Diego Leon, and shows Frozone escaping the clutches of an Omnidroid using his icy skills.

• Frozone – Storyborn (226/204): Cost 6 | 6 Strength | 4 Willpower | 2 Lore

We have to give a shout-out to the Wilds Unknown Chase Cards: Merida – Formidable Archer (242/204) and Buzz Lightyear – Jungle Ranger (241/204). These Iconic Rare cards feature our favourite Pixar heroes framed within the vines threatening to take over Lorcana.

Keep an eye out for the new "Lore Nouveau" aesthetic upgrades. This Art Nouveau-inspired style adds a new dimension to Enchanted cards, and perfectly capture a sense of wonder and discovery. We didn’t pull any of these in our packs this time, but perhaps we will catch one at the Lorcana Midnight Release event at the Chaos Cards Tabletop Gaming Store in Folkestone!

As we battle the spread of the vines in Wilds Unknown, the threat is far from over. We know that upcoming release: Attack of the Vine will feature another Pre-Release kit, which will set a new standard for future Lorcana sets. Want to find out more?
