Shadows Deepen as Pokemon Announces Pitch Black

Just as we’re catching our breath from the hype surrounding Chaos Rising, the Pokémon Company has dropped yet another exciting annoucement! The fifth chapter of theMega Evolution series has been officially revealed as Pitch Black, and features none other than the powerful Mega Darkrai ex.

For those who keep a close eye on the Japanese releases, Pitch Black is expected to be a near 1:1 translation of the Abyss Eye set releasing this May. This means we can have a pretty good idea of the dark power heading our way.

Pitch Black is set to hit our shelves this July! Read on to find out what we know so far...

Prepare yourself for the Pitch Black expansion, where shadows are set to deepen while nightmares become reality. Twinkling city lights and starry skies are suddenly obscured by a creeping darkness as Mega Darkrai ex arrives, bringing mystery and malice to the arena. But don’t worry, Pitch Black is not all shadows, as Mega Zeraora ex fights back with thunderous strikes of lightning, leading a charge including Mega Chandelure ex, Mega Excadrill ex, amongst others.

Despite being a more focused set, Pitch Black will hopefully be packed with some great chase cards. The exciting fifth installment is set to include:

• Over 115 cards in total.
• Six Mega Evolution Pokémon ex and four standard Pokémon ex.
• 11 Illustration Rare Pokémon.
• 18 Ultra Rare Pokémon and Trainer cards.
• Six Special Illustration Rare (SIR) Pokémon and Supporter cards.
• 35+ cards featuring unique special illustrations.

The Elite Trainer Box (ETB) really is the focal point of any Pokémon release! The Pitch Black ETB features stunning artwork of Mega Darkrai and is the perfect starter kit for both collectors and players alike. You can look forward to getting the following in at ETB:

• 9 Booster Packs
• 1 Full-Art Foil Promo Card featuring a Zarude Illustration Rare
• Premium Accessories: 65 card sleeves, 45 Energy cards, a player’s guide, and competition-legal dice/markers.

Booster Bundles & Displays

• Booster Display: 36 packs to open and hopefully find one of the 11 Special Illustration cards! (It’s not guaranteed though unfortunately!)
• Booster Bundle: Contains 6 packs and is a perfect way to get a quick boost to your deck.

Blisters & Promo Packs

• Triple Pack: Includes 3 booster packs and a special Mega Zeraora foil promo.
• Premium Checklane: Comes with 1 booster pack, a coin, and 3 promo cards.
• Single Checklane: Features 1 booster pack, a coin, and a featured promo card.

As is the case with any recent Pokémon releases, we are expecting (and prepared!) for stock to move at lightning speed.
