A quick dip with Dobble

A quick dip with Dobble

Dobble is my go to game when I want something quick to play with friends and family. With 55 cards and all of the items to spot being holiday themed this was a great addition to my collection.

I was keen to see how "holiday-proof" Beach Dobble was so I took it for a trip down to Sunny Sands. We played a game, there are 5 different types of game you can play with any version of Dobble. My favourite is the Tower, you deal out all of the cards to all of the players and leave a card face up in the middle. The first person to get rid of all the cards in their stack wins.

With each card containing at least one thing you can picture on holiday you’d think it would be easy to spot the next match but with the different placements and sizes of the images the sunglasses soon become impossible to find even though you just saw them on the card before.

Included in every copy of Dobble is an instruction book which lets you know the names of all the symbols (this is very useful if you are playing a theme deck which you aren’t familiar with!) and explains the rules of 5 different mini games you can play.

You can also use Dobble cards to play different games with your little ones. I ended up playing 55 card pick up and got my child to help me find all the cards with an ice lolly on and get them in the bag. We carried on doing this until the last 3 cards and then they got emptied all over the floor again but it was a fun way to get them interested in tidying up.

I’ve played a variety of board games but Dobble is definitely one that everyone should have in their collection. It is super easy and people of any age can play it. It is a great game for bigger groups and there are versions where you can play solo against the clock.

Safe to say that Beach Dobble is a game I will be keeping in my bag for this summer and many more to come.
