Cardfight!! Vanguard is a relatively new trading card game which was produced in Japan in 2011. The game works similarly to Yu-Gi-Oh in that players begin by drawing five cards then 1 every turn. In Cardfight!! Vanguard you can battle your friends on planet Cray, calling a card (also known as a unit) to field to battle. Players take turns like this and once one person has had 6 damages or have no more cards left they lose the battle.

Before starting a game, players must set up the deck of cards. This has to consist of 50 cards which include the main Vanguard card; you also cannot have more than 4 of any individual card. There should only be 16 trigger units, you are only allowed 4 heal triggers and 4 with the sentinel skill.

To begin the game you will place a 0 unit card, which is called the Vanguard, into the centre face down. Each player will then select 5 cards from the pile and are allowed to have one redraw but then they must keep this hand. Once players have determined who will begin the game, this person will reveal the Vanguard but cannot attack on the first go. Players then take it in turns to fight each other and try to win battles.
