As the title of the review states this game is very good. Some people have reviewed elsewhere negatively about the dice rolling aspect and in inherent luck in this, i totally disagree with this and think the luck of the dice logically depicts the luck of the thematic activities this represents. Highly recommend this game if you like worker placement games and a mythological theme.

Champions of Midgard is a fairly simple gateway type worker placement game with a Viking Theme. The main aim of the game is to accumulate as many points as you can within eight rounds of play. Your role is to defend the village from marauding Trolls and Druagr (undead), whilst gathering resources, so you can build ships and head out to sea to attack monsters in far off places. These resource and troops, which are represented with cubes and dice are collected with the placement of workers on collection and attack spots. Failure to defend against troll attack results in blame tokens which can snowball into loosing many points at the end of the game. The whole experience to Me was pretty thematic which is unusual for a worker placement type game. The sense of attacking and sailing off to fight with most battles ending in the glorious death for the warriors. Some folks have compared this game to Lords of Waterdeep, and I do get this sentiment but the use of dice in this game for Me makes it feel more like Stoneage. If I have any criticism it would be that the cubes are red and brown which are too similar in colour. It's strange they haven't addressed this, as they added icons to the different coloured cards in the 2nd edition to help folks with colour deficiency/blindness issues. Some may feel the use of dice could make the game a bit to random. So far I have only played it a couple of times and found that the use of abilities and favours from the gods can help mitigate these possibilities. Overall a very fun game and one I am happy to have purchased. So Cry TYR! and remember that "Odin Owns You All!
