In a game of Pokémon TCG, players use their Pokemon to battle. When a Pokémon's Hit points (HP) are reduced to 0 it is knocked out and the player who knocked it out may take a Prize card. A player may win a Pokemon card game in 3 ways; by collecting all of their prize cards, if their opponent runs out of Pokémon on the field or if their opponent must draw a card from their deck but all the cards have been drawn.
There are many types of Pokemon card, the rarest are called Level X Cards and / or Ex Cards. These cards either enhance a Pokemon's attacks or are stronger versions of the card with a significant drawback. In the case of Pokemon ex, the drawback is your opponent can take 2 prize cards when the Pokemon is knocked out. Pokemon Level X cards, first introduced in Diamond & Pearl, take your Pokemon to the next level, usually enhancing the hit points and giving access to additional powerful attacks. These cards usually have a silvery border and a holo picture and are highly prized.
